Karthigai Deepam - Festival of Lights

Karthigai deepam is celebrated by Hindus in the month of karthigai at full moon day. Karthikai deepam is a festival of lamps, which is observed in every home and temple. Agal vilakku is the main theme of karthigai; all vilakkus are lit up in the evening at 6’0 clock. 

Generally karthigai deepam festival celebrated on three day. First Day is called as periya karthikai.  During periya karthigai “Tiruvannamalai deepam” is very famous, that day a huge fire lamp is lit up on the hill. It is observable for several kilo metres around the hill.

Hindus prepared some karthigai deepam recipes in home on Karthikai deepam and celebrate the festival with joyful.
